Bruce Robert Bromen passed away February 4. Bromen, who was born and raised in Marshall, Minn., in 1946, entered the U.S. Air Force in 1966 and served during the Vietnam War, including a stint in Chile, where he was assigned to an intelligence unit searching for missile launch sites. After returning to civilian life, Bromen continued his never-ending passion for learning, eventually compiling a personal library of more than 1,000 books. He received his bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University in 1985 and earned a Master of Law in taxation, with honors, from Washington School of Law in 2001. Bromen discovered an interest in tax and accounting, and created Bromen Systems, a tax and accounting firm with more than 400 clients.

Bromen was a valued volunteer of the Minnesota Golf Association for 20 years, including earning recognition as a two-time MGA President’s Award recipient (Volunteer of the Year) in 2006 and 2021. As a certified rules official, he served as a site captain for MGA qualifiers, Minnesota State High School League State and Section tournaments, and regional collegiate events. Bromen, who gave so generously of his time at MGA events, will be remembered as a friend to all. He is preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Howard Bromen. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon (nee Carr), his siblings Susan and Brian (Melissa), and two four-legged ‘kids,’ Coco and Maggie. A celebration for Bromen will be held later this year. More information will be posted on his Caring Bridge site.

Paul George Bussmann passed away January 17. Bussmann, who was born in Minneapolis in 1955, graduated from St. Thomas Academy High School. He would earn a bachelor's degree in Business from the University of St. Thomas, and later moved to New Hope, where he made his home for many years while working for BAE Systems in Fridley. Everyone who knew Bussmann will always remember him for his trademark nicknames, jocularity and kindness. He was an avid University of Minnesota Gopher fan and enjoyed season tickets to Gopher football for many years. Bussmann was also a passionate golfer who participated in several golf leagues, and loved sharing the game with his family and friends. He was proud of making several rare hole-in-ones throughout his golf career, and he found the time to give back to the game he loved as a tournament volunteer for the Minnesota Golf Association, where his volunteer assignments included MGA amateur championships and USGA qualifiers.

Bussmann is preceded in death by his parents, George and Dolores (Wolf), and brother, John. He is survived by siblings James, Cecelia Perry (Bussmann), Tony (Laurie), and George Jr., in addition to a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
