About the MGA: Founded in 1901, the Minnesota Golf Association is the governing body over amateur golf in the state, responsible for administering the Rules of Golf, and committed to uphold and promote the game of golf and its values for all golfers in Minnesota. The MGA conducts 23 major amateur championships and 14 USGA qualifying events each year. Thanks to the support of its member clubs and associate members, and the efforts of its volunteers and staff, the MGA provides a variety of services such as handicapping, course rating and measuring, an online golf news and information resource, mngolf.org, and an official publication, Minnesota Golfer magazine, which benefits all golfers throughout Minnesota.

Position Summary: The opportunity provides a comprehensive introduction and extensive training experience for individuals interested in pursuing a career in fundraising, public relations, or client relations. The Minnesota Golf Foundation (MGF), the charitable affiliate of the Minnesota Golf Association (MGA), seeks an intern to support all MGF-related duties.

Requirements:

• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and enthusiasm
• Ability to work with individuals’ personal information with strict confidentiality
• Strong attention to detail
• Creative-thinking skills
• Excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills
• Ability to learn job-related computer programs, including CRM focused on donor management
• Ability to effectively interact and communicate with people of different backgrounds (socio-economic, educational and personal beliefs) 
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal and telephone)
• Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office programs, CRM, etc.)
• Ability and willingness to work in an office environment independently and as part of a team
• Currently pursuing a degree from or a recent graduate of a higher-educational institution
• Interest in golf, but previous experience in golf administration is not necessary

General Duties:

• Provide administrative support to the Foundation, fundraising operations, projects and events
• Support MGF programs with an exceptional level of customer service
• Collaborate with staff to generate ideas, write and edit for communications, marketing, and donor-specific engagement materials and create social media content
• Assist in providing content to the MGA website and social media channels
• Provide support to other MGA departments as apparent or assigned

Compensation & Benefits: $15 per hour.  Eligible for overtime after 40 hours per week.

Mental Demands:

• Perform highly detailed work under changing, intensive deadlines on multiple concurrent tasks
• Interact with co-workers, players and volunteers

Physical Demands:

• This position frequently works in an office environment, sometimes for a prolonged period of time
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Hours: Full-time.  Weekday hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with the possibility of overtime and/or some early morning and late evening hours with some travel (requiring overnights).

Employment: Employment period will be April/May through September/October.  Start and end dates are flexible depending on school schedule (if applicable).
