Hole 2

A tall cottonwood once stood behind the forward tees of the 2nd hole at Ortonville GC, making a tee shot from the tips very difficult. It has been replaced by a shorter tree, but neither is needed to protect this challenging hole.

“That was tough,” says Roger Sandberg, longtime Ortonville High School golf coach, about negotiating the tree. “Not many tears were shed when that big cottonwood came down.”

Your tee ball must carry a large pond to an elevated green with OB left and back. The large green slopes back to front and right to left and features a small target area. Shots landing short of a middle hole location roll back down a false front to the apron or even the rough. A bailout right offers only marginal relief.

“Some people walk off with a four, feeling good,” says Sandberg. “You can run into some real difficulties there.”
