Deacon's Lodge

Hole 17

Nestled among beautiful Brainerd wetlands lies the famed Arnold Palmer design, Deacon's Lodge, named in honor of his father, "Deek". The beguiling, par-3 no. 17 was selected to Arnold's "King's Dream 18" course (west of the Mississippi) - chosen from more than 2,700 holes designed by The King.

Flanked by Lake Douglass on the east, No. 17's large, target-sized green is 40 yards deep, inviting players to go pin hunting. No. 17 looks benign at first glance, but closer inspection reveals two greenside pot bunkers front right, making the forced carry a tad more challenging. Beware of prevailing winds (hurting and from the right) before making any bets with fellow golfers.

"It decides a lot of friendly wagers because it's not an easy hole and there are a lot of dynamics to it with penalty areas and wind," says head professional Mark Neva.
