Jim Manthis

Manthis, a longtime member of the Minnesota Section of the PGA of America, has dedicated more than forty years to the game of golf. As head golf professional at Midland Hills from 1967 to 1995, Manthis has mentored numerous young golf professionals and was instrumental in founding the section’s assistant association, which still thrives today. Manthis also was the Minnesota Section PGA President in 1983-84, served on the PGA of America’s Board of Directors from 1987-1990, and was a member of the PGA of America’s Board of Control from 1993-1997.

Within the Minnesota Section PGA, Manthis has been honored with the 1984 Golf Professional of the Year, the 1992 Bill Strausbaugh Award winner for his efforts in employment, and the 2006 Teacher of the Year. In 2007, the PGA of America also recognized Manthis as its Golf Professional of the Year, the highest honor a PGA member can achieve. Manthis was inducted into the MGA/PGA Minnesota Golf Hall of Fame in 2008, and to the PGA of America Hall of Fame in 2009.
