MGA Educational Seminars & Workshops

Education Programs

***** In-Person Seminars will not be conducted in 2021 due to Covid-19 ******

As part of its mission, the MGA is responsible for educating the golf industry in many arenas - Handicapping, the Rules of Golf, Tournament Operations and Volunteering to name a few.  To meet this responsibility, the MGA offers classes for industry professionals, club officials, players, volunteers and the general public.  These classes range from the very basic, introductory level classes up to in-depth, multi-day programs designed for individuals with high skill level.

If you are interested in learning more information about some of these topics, please check out our 2021 Education Programs.

Handicapping

At this time, the MGA has suspended live seminar training as a result of Covid-19.   Please view the online WHS System Seminar to learn more about the changes to the Handicap System.

If you have not done so already, the USGA requires one representative from each golf club to complete an educational component covering the new Rules of Handicapping and to pass the standardized quiz provided by the USGA.

Rules of Golf

The MGA will not be in-person Rules education programs as a result of Covid-19.   However, the MGA will be hosting its MGA "Rules on Tap" - The Live Online Rules Discussion every Tuesday night beginning February 9 through April 20.  Show time is 7:00-8:30 pm Central time.

For additional Rules Education materials and quizzes, we encourage you to use the USGA and R&A websites for all of the Rules of Golf information you should and need to know.

Tournament Volunteer Orientations

Are you interested in giving back to this great game?  How about spending some beautiful days out on some beautiful courses?  Have you ever wondered what it would be like to help out at an MGA championship?  Now is the time!  The MGA always needs people like you who are willing to give back, to enjoy some of the state's best courses and be "inside the ropes" helping to make MGA events the best possible.  For 2021, the MGA will once again conduct Tournament Volunteer Orientations for anyone wishing to become a volunteer for the MGA.  Click HERE for more information!
