About the Minnesota Golf Foundation Women's Scholarship
The Minnesota Golf Foundation Women's Scholarship
(previously known as the Minnesota Golf Association Foundation & MWGA Scholarship Foundation) is a Minnesota non-profit organization established in 1998 that supports young women in their collegiate ventures. The Foundation has committed more than $700,000 in scholarships to 82 recipients. The criteria for judging applicants are based on their academic excellence, financial need, quality of character, and interest or involvement in golf.
Scholarship Requirements
Each scholarship is for the amount of $3,000 per year, renewable for four consecutive years (a $12,000 maximum) and is made available to high school senior girls who intend to enroll in college the year they submit this application. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and domiciled in the state of Minnesota. Scholarship funds may be applied toward tuition, books, room and board. A scholarship recipient must be enrolled and continue as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.
The Minnesota Golf Foundation Women's Scholarship is based on academic performance (a minimum 3.2 average), continued financial need and quality of character as demonstrated by civic and academic activities. Although skill or excellence in the game of golf is not a criterion, candidates shall demonstrate an interest or involvement in the sport.
Each recipient will be required to meet these standards on an annual basis prior to each year's scholarship distribution. Any inability to maintain these standards and requirements will be reviewed by the foundation's directors and may result in the loss of scholarship funds.
