The Jewel Golf Club
Hole 5, Par 3, 134 Yards
9 Iron

Your Story

I was playing in a three-some. Our group of six guys from Rochester were playing The Jewel for the third time this summer. It is our favorite southern Minnesota golf course. We always play for $1 on the front nine (low net) and $1 on the back nine (low net). We also play for $1 on closest to the pin on a par three both sides. Hole #5 was the choice on the front nine. One of my group put his pitching wedge 33' from the pin. I selected a nine iron and hit it right at the pin. It took one bounce after the divot, rolled six feet and disappeared into the cup! I yelled so loud the three guys in our group behind us heard me. One of my partners ran up to me and gave me a hug. The other playing partner started taking pictures. No one was at the pro shop when we finished, so we told the restaurant waitress and she took down my personal info. They gave our entire group a round of drinks. The next day I also bought a round for my friends. I have been playing golf for 54 years and this was my first hole-in-one. I was still shaking on the next tee box and promptly hit it into a hazard. :) What a fun day it turned out to be.
